Courage

Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. Courage is showed many times throughout To Kill a Mockingbird. It is a very big part of life because no one would ever take a chance at anything. In To Kill a Mockingbird  Courage is showed when Atticus stands up for Tom Robinson, when he shoots the dog, and when Boo kills Bob Ewell.                  Atticus shows courage many times standing up for Tom Robinson. This is courageous because Atticus goes against Society. Atticus is courageous when he stays at the jail to protect Tom. Atticus is a very courageous person for all the actions he made.                                                  Atticus once again displays courage. He was courageous when he shot the dog with rabies. Atticus doesn’t like to brag about his shooting skills and builds the courage to shoot the dog. Atticus is the most courageous person in To Kill a Mockingbird .                                                        Boo Radley is a very courageous person. He shows courage because he goes out of his house and kills Bob Ewell when Scout and Jim were being chased. This is courageous because Boo never goes out of house. So even going out of the his house takes courage than to kill a man to save some kids takes an unbelievable amount of Courage. It was a very great symbol of what courage looks like in To Kill a Mockingbird .                            When Atticus shoots the dog with rabies, when Boo saves Scout and Jem, and when Atticus defends Tom all these have one thing in common, courage. Those three things took a lot of courage. In conclusion, life would not be the same without courage. So next time when you approach something scary or you’re uncomfortable about something, just do it!

Change over 10 years

As a Teen, I believe that I will change a whole lot over 10 years. Right now I like to waste a lot of time on things that don’t really matter in the long run. I like to play video games, but my parents didn’t get my sister’s and I a game system till I was 7. This allowed me to find a way to enjoy myself with things besides video games. I hope later in my life I can be more responsible with my time so I can be successful and have fun times after I do what I need to do. I will definitely undergo major changes over the next 10 years.

Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Peace Prize is relevant today because it furthers technology and brings peace amoung people. It does this because people get the motivation to go do something and change the world. Alfred Nobel was the man who came up with the Nobel Peace Prize. He invented dynamite and other war technology, but most people believe he came up with the Peace Prize because he worsened peace. The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the most known awards in the world because it furthers humanity.

Maycomb Tribune Editorial

Last Sunday night I experienced something unspeakable. Tom Robinson was being moved from the state jail to the the Maycomb county jail. He was being moved because he was going to have his trial for raping a white woman. Atticus Finch was standing outside the county jail Sunday night when suddenly a crowd of people appeared and surrounded and Atticus.

They told Atticus to move away from the jail, but Atticus refused. They were there to kill Tom Robinson. Then suddenly Scout popped out from behind a door and Jim and Dill followed after her. Atticus was told that he has 15 seconds to get the children out of the way. Mr. Cunningham was a part of the mob and Scout started talking to Mr. Cunningham about Walter, his son and she asked him if he could say “hey” to Walter for her. Mr. Cunningham felt ashamed and he squatted down to Scout and said to Scout that he will tell Walter that she said “hey”. Then he tells all of his guys to head out. As I was watching though the window I realized how bad white people treat different races.

In the county that we live in all people are ‘supposed’ to be equal. But black just are not treated the way that everyone else is treated. The mob that came didn’t even hear Tom Robinson’s side of the story because a white person’s word means more than a black person’s word to the people here in Alabama. People just have to understand that some people are different and not like you. If you have a problem with someone, then do not bother them, let them live their life they want to live it without someone always hating on them because of their skin color.

Signed,

Mr. Underwood

Possible re-opening of Emmett Till case

A. Stanley Nelson, a 52 year old that won the Genius Award on making the film “The Murder of Emmett Till”. He asked people who saw his film to send postcard to the attorney general of Mississippi. He was trying to get them to open back up the Emmett Till case. Keith Beauchamp, a 32 year old film maker from Brooklyn. He showed people his unfinished film, “The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till”. He also wanted it to open the Emmett Till case.

C. Mamie Mobley made a difficult decision at her son’s funeral. She had an open casket showing the hole world how badly African-Americans were treated. Emmett had been beaten, shot, and thrown in a river. The only way that Emmett had been identified was from the ring he was wearing. If Mamie didn’t have an open casket it might have taken longer for the civil rights movement to happen.

D. Mrs. Mobley had grown closer to Mr. Beauchamp when he was doing the documentary on the case. She told him, “Keith, you’re about to grab a rattlesnake by the tail”. When she said this she meant that doing this is going to cause problems. Mrs. Mobley died a year later.

My first crush

My first crush was Velma Dinkley on Scobby-Doo. I remember her big glasses on her big head. Her big brown hair was pretty cool too. The best part about Velma is when she would say, “my glasses! my glasses!” in a nasally voice. I would get scared when she lost her glasses, because she could not see very well without her big, round, glasses. It was scary because there was always monsters and bad guys coming at them and Velma could not see. I also noticed she was so so  brave, way more brave than shaggy and Scooby doby dooooooooooo!
